Frequently asked questions

What is a dynamic energy contract?

With a dynamic tariff you pay the wholesale EPEX spot price, which changes every hour, and in several markets every quarter hour. Instead of one fixed price per kWh, your price follows supply and demand: often cheap around midday when solar is high, expensive during the evening peak.

What are EPEX spot prices?

EPEX is the European power exchange where day-ahead electricity is traded. The spot price is set per delivery period and reflects real supply and demand across the coupled European market. Dynamisch shows this price live, color coded from green (cheap) to red (expensive).

When is electricity cheapest?

Usually midday, between 10:00 and 16:00, when solar generation is high, and overnight when demand is low. The most expensive hours are typically the evening peak, 17:00 to 21:00. Shifting your EV charging, heat pump, washing machine or dishwasher into the cheap hours saves the most.

Which suppliers offer dynamic tariffs?

Across Europe, providers such as Tibber, Octopus Energy, aWATTar, Frank Energie and others offer spot-indexed tariffs. The per-kWh markup differs by supplier; you work out your exact all-in price in the app. Dynamisch works whether or not you have already switched.

What does the app cost?

Dynamisch is free and shows the current spot prices without an account. Optionally, Dynamisch Pro unlocks the 5-day forecast, longer price history and price alerts.
